Firstly, watermark, if it’s there, should match the source. When it comes to art/fanart, usually the artist adds some sort of a comment (describing why/when they drew this etc, can vary), while reposter only slaps it on there or says something like “omg i love this”. With gifs and edits, reposters will often post things that don’t match (several gifs with different sizes, different styles etc) or, the other extreme, only one thing taken out of context. Also look at the tags (and I believe this is described in the articles) - people who post their own things have tags such as #my art, #my gifs, #mine etc., while a reposter will use a bunch of irrelevant tags like #hot #celebrity and many others. Sadly, you can’t always count on this because some reposters really make business out of stealing and they aim to copy exactly those habits.
